Now why is this a big deal you ask, well the problem here comes from spammers and bots that harvest details from the public domain Whois records and use those details, ID Protection (also known as ID Protect, or WHOIS Protection) guarantees that your private contact information is kept invisible to all internet users, including spammers and identity thieves.

How do I add Domain ID Protection to my domain?

When you register a new domain or transfer your domain to us, you will have an option to add the Domain ID protection to your order. If you wish to add the service to an existing domain then all you need to do is email sales@ukwsd.com and we will be able to take care of that for you.

Why is my personal information available when I purchase a domain name?

International rules require that valid contact information be provided for all domain names, and that it be accessible worldwide. ID Protect provides valid contact information that satisfies the international requirements without exposing your personal contact information to worldwide scrutiny.

What personal information is displayed in domain name Whois, and how do people find it?

Domain name Whois displays name, address, and email address. Anyone anywhere can search the Whois database through any search engine and many other web sites. ID Protect provides proxy information instead of your personal contact information. Parties who want to contact you use the proxy information, and we forward to you.

Which TLDs allow ID Protect?

ID Protect can be added to the following TLDs: .com / .net / .org / .biz / .info / .name / .tv / .me.

How does Domain ID Protect help reduce spam?

Domain name Whois is a great source of email addresses for spammers, if your domain name has ID Protect we change the Whois email address several times a year. Spammers harvest and will use one Whois email address, but once we change it that source of spam is cut off.

Can people still email me using my cloaked email address?

Email sent to the email address listed in the Whois, will get a response specifying an unbranded URL, which needs to be visited by this person. Upon visiting this URL, they would be able to mention their query in a secure form, while specifying the type of Contact (Registrant, Administrative, Technical, Billing) they wish to email. The contents of the submitted form will then be emailed to the selected Contact's (Registrant, Administrative, Technical or Billing) email address, as specified in your customer portal.
